In Praise of Slow Inclusion.pdf | 18/06/2020 | 230.75 KB | Details
DescriptionBy 1986, an Italian called Carlos Petrini had finally had enough fast food. He was tired of watching lonely Joe walking down the street wolfing a burger that looked exactly the same whether it was Paris and Pisa, January or July. He was bored with millimetre-exact but tasteless tomatoes. He was troubled by the clearance of rainforests to raise beef for appetites on the other side of the world. He was saddened by obesity and ill-health driven by just too much food processing. Carlos invented the Slow Food movement and so began a quiet revolution. |

Housing First Europe.pdf | 18/06/2020 | 2,927.45 KB | Details
DescriptionThe Housing First Europe Guide is the product of a multi-national team with experience in operating Housing First across several member nations. Our goal was to describe how to implement and operate Housing First throughout Europe. The need for this Guide arose because of the rapid increase in the dissemination of Housing First to address homelessness throughout the EU. Housing First has proven highly effective in addressing homelessness and this Guide seeks to provide the information necessary to implement, staff and operate an effective Housing First program. Today, there are Housing First programs in many European countries and that number is increasing because Housing First is now also a core component of many EU member states’ homelessness policies. |

Europe Report.pdf | 18/06/2020 | 555.31 KB | Details
DescriptionThe Peer Review, which took place in Brussels on 16–17 March 2016, discussed the results of Housing First Belgium (HFB), a national scheme to implement and test the Housing First approach. Housing First provides rapid access to permanent housing and intensive, multidimensional support to homeless people with complex needs without requiring them to be “housing ready” or to show sobriety, compliance with medication etc. The only requirements are to follow the normal residential tenancy laws and — in most cases — to accept regular home visits by service providers. |

While the toolkit has a mental health focus because it is based on the At Home/Chez Soi experience, it is applicable to and can be adapted to other segments of the homeless population (e.g., youth, families), many of which also experience mental health challenges. |
